Celebrating a very special Waterford milestone...

Waterford, the makers of the most beautiful crystal the world has to offer, are having a party – and you’re invited!

2010 marks a very special anniversary for Waterford. Jim O’Leary, Waterford’s Head of Design has been with Waterford for an amazing fifty years this year!

To celebrate, Waterford is releasing a very special new collection in honour of Mr. O’Leary; the 50th Anniversary Collection. Fans of Waterford Crystal will fall in love with these intricately detailed pieces…

But that’s not all. Jim O’Leary is touring the world to launch Waterford’s new range of beautiful crystal in person – and one of his stops just happens to be right here, at Peter’s of Kensington! If you love beautiful crystal, make sure you don’t miss out on this very special Waterford event.

Waterford’s Jim O’Leary will be visiting Peter’s of Kensington on Saturday the 21st of August! He’ll be talking about his work at Waterford over the past fifty years, answering any of your questions and signing with a special engraving tool any Waterford pieces purchased at the event.

Don’t miss out on your chance to meet Mr. O’Leary and find out all about his amazing life! Wander up to our Waterford Department, on the first floor of the store, between 11am and 2pm – we’ll see you there!

Jim O'Leary - Design Director.

Don’t live in Sydney? Don’t be sad…there’s no reason to miss out!

Simply purchase any Waterford piece online from Peter’s of Kensington before the event, and, when Mr. O’Leary visits, we’ll have him sign it for you.

If you’d like your Waterford purchase signed, when you place your order online, just write “Please sign my Waterford items”  in the “Card Message” field of the gift wrapping step – it’s the first step after you click the “Checkout” button.

If you get stuck, or you’d prefer to place your order over the phone, simply call our friendly Mail Order team on (02) 9662 1099.

As the event draws closer, we’ll be putting more Waterford pieces online – including this year’s stunning new collections...

Go Randwick…and the Rabbitohs!

For years now, Peter's of Kensington has been a proud major sponsor of the Randwick Rugby Club.

But this year, we're also sponsoring the South Sydney Rabbitohs in the NRL. You may have already noticed our lovely pink logo on the goalposts whenever the Rabbitohs score a try.

We're hoping the Rabbitohs score plenty of points this season – we'll be cheering every time they do!

Good luck to both Randwick and the Rabbitohs for 2010. We're very proud to be on your side!

Lately, we've been answering plenty of calls and e-mails from people with this exact question.

You've got your package, opened it up, taken out your purchases...and now you're left with a great big box of polystyrene stuff sitting in the middle of your lounge room.

How do you get rid of it? Will all that polystyrene stuff harm the environment if you throw it in the bin?

Here's what to do...

Firstly, just confirm you've removed all the items from the box. Sometimes, small items like vegetable peelers and CDs can get lost amongst all that polystyrene puff. Check the packing slip – the invoice that arrives with your order to confirm you've received all the items you ordered. Once you're happy everything's there, it's time to get rid of all that polystyrene puff...

People often ask us if this puff is really necessary. It is. We use puff to protect your order so it doesn't break in transit. But the good news is – it's not polystyrene and not at all harmful to the environment.

Our puff is actually made from...believe it or not – wheat! It's called Envirofill, and it's completely natural, non-toxic, and biodegradable. When you add a little water, it'll disappear, breaking down to pretty much nothing in no time at all. This means getting rid of your puff is easy. Just pour it into your bin or even your bathtub and add water. In around an hour, it'll all be gone.

Now, all that's left is the box. And that's easy – just fold it up and throw it in your recycling bin. Simple!

Now that huge Peter's of Kensington box is out of the way, you're free to try out all the lovely goodies you ordered! Have fun!
