Welcome to the weird, wild and wide world of Areaware.
We say “wide” because Areaware make so many fascinating objects, we’re
not sure which category to place them in. This New York-based studio of
design aims to make your home objects as unusual as possible, while
still retaining their useful factor – and get a laugh or jolt of
surprise from you along the way.
We’d never seen an existential puzzle until we saw Areaware’s Gradient
Puzzle. Seamlessly blending vivid colours in a calming manner, designer
Bruce Wilner and Areaware declare that “the puzzle can be considered
complete even when its pieces are disassembled and mixed together in the
box”. Woah, man.
Complete with 500 pieces, this challenging puzzle is sure to intrigue any colour theorist or designer.

- Designed by Bruce Wilner for Areaware in New York.
- Made from gloss varnished board.
