Some of the strangest and best things happen when you’re lost…
It was back in 1986 that the name Fishs Eddy was adopted by a
newly-opened store in New York, named for a perfectly odd hamlet
discovered by the store’s owners while they were lost on some upstate
During another ambling, misguided road trip, Fishs Eddy (we’re talking
the company now, not the hamlet), chanced upon a barn filled with
dinnerwares that had recently experienced a fire – and yet every dish
had survived intact. So the cups, bowls, plates and platters were hauled
back to New York and scrubbed for hours…to reveal unique, beautiful
patterns that inspired the Fishs Eddy of today.
Now you can expect everything, from the quirky to the classic, from this
American pottery house. Endless designs, patterns and colours await, in
high-quality ceramic, with a hint of eccentricity along the way.
And speaking of things that are a little different…turn your attention
to Fishs Eddy’s Harper + Oldham collection. Inspired by the art of ‘50s
modernist Charley Harper, this range’s artworks render birds and
wildlife as shapes, colours and patterns rather than plainly realistic creatures. This adds a retro vibe to glass and
ceramic pieces, as designed by Todd Oldham.
