Often you wouldn’t associate the wild west and equally as wild meats with New Zealand’s south isle…but one taste of Glasseye Creek’s Chilli and Wood Roasted Capsicum Sauce might just change your mind.
This sauce was sourced (get it?) from the minds of a bunch of meat-loving mates who, during the whitebaiting season of 2008, created batches upon batches of sauce to find the perfect taste to accompany their favourite food. Although they concocted this delicious sauce over many, many whiskies, somehow the recipe was remembered and written down, with the result being the marinade you see before you.
And it adds bite to so many foods! Chicken, lamb, beef and pork all benefit from Glasseye Creek’s Chilli and Wood Roasted Capsicum Sauce, as do slow-cooked stews and even savoury cocktails.
Just don’t serve it with whitebait. Some things are best left unspoiled…
