PRODUCT DETAILS
For centuries, humankind has been fascinated with scientific discovery – from the early astronomical breakthroughs of Galileo Galilei, to modern advancements in digital technology. Now, with Hemisferium, you can revisit the dawn of modern science…

Driven by a spirit of inquisitiveness, development and scientific-historic investigation, Hemisferium has rediscovered the wisdom of the ancients to bring to a modern era. Their beautiful (and completely functional) collection of scientific instruments are faithful recreations of the tools that played a vital role in the golden age of Science.

This beautiful Nautical Astrolabe is modelled off the measuring devices created by Portuguese navigators to measure the altitude of the sun at a given time, and thus determine their latitude at sea. This particular model is an exact replica of an astrolabe made between 1550 and 1555, and owned by a Dundee skipper, Andrew Smyton, which now rests in the Art Gallery and Museum of Dundee.

Made from antique-look brass, this Astrolabe is beautifully ornamented, and hangs on a keyring so you can take it with you wherever you go. No more will you be stuck at sea (or down at the pub) not being able to navigate your way safely home!

After all, Hemisferium knows that some things are far too precious to lose to the sands of time…
