Orrefors’ first glass factory was founded in Sweden in 1898, and the company began producing fine crystal in 1914. When their unique glass figure engravings were awarded the Grand Prix medal at the Paris World Exhibition in 1925, the company’s international reputation was made, and today their stable of dedicated artists continue to pioneer new glass and crystal products and techniques.
The name Karl Lagerfeld is the stuff of legend. With his white hair and ever-present dark glasses, the designer cuts an enigmatic figure.
And now, Lagerfeld has teamed up with Orrefors, to create a breathtaking collection of glassware that’s as svelte, as avant-garde and as enigmatic as the famous designer himself.
Lagerfeld describes his creation as “like a free-standing geometrical cloud”. “I wanted very geometrical shapes for all the glasses,” he says “I think it’s perfect like this”.
One look and you’ll agree. Each glass features a unique squared base, floating atop long, shapely stems. Presented in a gift box, complete with a matching coaster engraved with the letters KL, each piece is handmade in Sweden by Orrefors’ team of glass artists.
This extraordinary collection from Karl Lagerfeld and Orrefors will change the way you think about glassware.
