Among designers, graphic artists and those in the know, Pantone is a method of indexing colours.
Colours can be confusing. Take, for instance, red. The word, “red”, can
refer to a light, pastel-pink kind of red, or it could be the bold,
bright red of a stop sign. To avoid confusion, the Pantone system aims
to classify every shade of every colour with a unique number. Really
bright red, for instance, is Pantone 193. The particular shade of blue
on the Scottish Flag is Pantone 300. There’s a Pantone number for every
shade the human eye can see!
But the Pantone system is about so
much more than just dull numbers. It’s all about passion! Which, if you ask any designer or artist, is what life is all about. You can even express your passion for colour all you like, with Pantone Mugs!
