Spode’s Blue Room collection has appeared in English homes since the
18th Century, adopting a medley of distinct motifs and patterns along
with unique borders lifted from the Spode archives. The fabulous blue
shade finds its origins in Spode’s original process of blue under glaze
printing on to earthenware vessels from engraved copper plates, which
gives Spode pottery and Blue Room a sense of timeless beauty.
Each piece of pottery from the Blue Room range features an images of
times gone by, whether that be a garland of flowers, a gothic mansion,
or Indian elephants wandering down a trade route. Largely recognised as
the collection in which Josiah Spode first perfected the art of
