Tokens & Icons was founded in 1991, when Ward Wallau, recently out of hotel school, decided to utilise his entrepreneurial know-how and transform New York City Transit Authority’s “Y-Cut” subway tokens into cufflinks.
Ward believed the tokens were a logical and creative way to reincorporate an aspect of the city’s rich history into the everyday life of New Yorkers. So of course, these cufflinks became the first collection by Tokens & Icons. Today, Tokens & Icons’ entire range is hand-crafted from, or incorporate, authentic artefacts, including Major League Baseball bats National Hockey League pucks and more.
True to the spirit of Tokens & Icons, comes this exquisite pair of Pen Nib Cufflinks, made with genuine Esterbrook fountain pen nibs from the 1940s and '50s. These authentic pen nibs are made from stainless steel, tipped with iridium pellet and engraved with the Esterbrook name, and are set in sterling silver with swivel findings. The perfect accessory for collectors, when you wear these cufflinks you are also wearing a piece of history.
