At the heart of Japan lies the ancient prefecture known as Gifu – and within Gifu lies Seki-shi
, better known as Seki City. And Seki City has a pretty notable history, especially when it comes to making knives.
During the Thirteenth, Fourteenth and Fifteenth Centuries, Seki City was home to over three hundred swordsmiths, amateurs and masters alike. Two men in particular – Kanemoto Magoroku and Saburo Shizu – made the city famous for its swords, and it became the country’s centre for reputable swordmaking. Fast-forward to modern times, and Seki continues to make cutlery and edged tools not just for Japan, but international markets as well. Nowadays, it is known as “the Knife Capital of Japan.”
Yamahide’s SLICE (Super Long Insured Cutting Edge) knives are made in this prestigious edgeware heartland, their blades forged from vanadium steel for increased strength, resistance, and incredible toughness. SLICE knives are also easy to sharpen, with a high durability and rust resistance that makes them a kitchen staple. A full tang extends from the tip of each SLICE knife in to the handle, which triple-riveted for security and suitably weighted.
Oh, and by the way, SLICE knives have samurai swords engraved on their blades. You definitely can’t look past something as awesome as that!
