Riedel has been making beautiful glassware, including decanters, for
more than two and a half centuries. Over this time, they have redesigned
both the humble wine glass and the decanter to suit specific varieties of wine, and in doing this they have
changed the way we decant and enjoy a good drop.
And in 2016, Riedel celebrates its 260-years anniversary – and naturally, such an important milestone is deserving of an exquisite decanter! The impressive Ayam Decanter was inspired by one of the world’s most exclusive breeds of hen, the Ayam from Indonesia; all-black and possessing impressive tail plumage.
Aesthetically, the bulbous portion of this decanter resembles the tail of the Ayam, while also serving as an excellent source of aeration. This dual-function decanter also aerates the wine as it is poured into your glass, significantly reducing the time needed to “open up” red wines.
Better still, the intriguing shape of the decanter allows it to not only stand on the table, but hang from it as well! Thanks to its precise craftsmanship, achieved by hand, the Ayam Decanter can hook onto the edge of your table – proving once more that Riedel is ahead of the pack when it comes to function and
form of wine decanters.
